A Note to Farmington Families From Michael Lamb

A Note to Farmington Families From Michael Lamb

Farmington is a special community. I’ve known that since I started working with families here nearly 30 years ago.

The Farmington Valley has always had a strong arts culture. Your schools invest in music and theater. Parents here understand that creativity isn’t a soft skill. It’s a life skill. And when a child shows a genuine passion for performing arts, Farmington parents take it seriously.

If your child is one of those kids, this is for you.

The Gap Nobody Talks About

Here’s something I’ve observed over 30 years of working with families in the Farmington Valley.

There are plenty of options for dance. Plenty of options for general music lessons. But when a parent has a child who is specifically drawn to singing, acting, musical theater — the kind of child who wants to perform rather than just play an instrument — the options get thin very quickly.

That’s the gap we fill. Have been filling since 1997.

Priscilla Peale, Recreation Supervisor at Farmington Parks and Recreation, wrote to us after our first year together: “When I have visited the classes, I have noticed the smiles on the faces and have heard the laughs of the children and I know that they are enjoying their time spent in the program. The instructors develop a positive relationship with their students and provide a safe and enjoyable class environment.”

What We Offer Farmington Families

At Performing Arts Programs we offer group acting classes specifically designed for children who are drawn to performance. Not dance. Not general music. Singing, acting, musical theater, the whole performing arts world. Warm, structured, developmental, and genuinely fun. No experience required to start.

For families whose child is ready for more focused work, I offer private coaching through Lamb Studios Online. One on one with me personally, online via Zoom, from your home. No driving across the valley. No scheduling around traffic and activities. Your child works directly with someone who trained at Carnegie Mellon University and has spent 35 years developing young performers.

I’ve had students from the Farmington Valley earn acceptance into some of the most competitive college conservatory programs in the country. I’ve watched kids prepare for school musical auditions and land roles they didn’t think were possible.

The Convenience Factor

I want to say something directly to Farmington parents because I know how busy your lives are.

Online private coaching via Zoom is not a compromise. It is not a lesser version of in person lessons. For most students it is actually more effective because they are relaxed, comfortable, and focused in their own space rather than rushed from activity to activity across town.

The trial lesson at Lamb Studios Online is $65, a full 45 minutes with me personally. If your child decides to continue with weekly coaching within 30 days that $65 goes straight toward the first month.

One More Thing

If you’re not quite ready to book a lesson yet that’s completely fine. Start with our free parent guide. It’s called “7 Reasons Your Creative Child Belongs on a Stage” and I wrote it specifically for parents who are in the early stages of figuring out what performing arts could mean for their child.
