Suffield Families — Performing Arts Has Been Part of This Community Longer Than You Might Know

Suffield is one of those Connecticut towns that quietly gets things right.

Strong schools. A real sense of community. Families who are invested in giving their children a well-rounded experience. When we began partnering with Suffield Parks and Recreation in the fall of 1998, one year after founding Performing Arts Programs, the response from families told us immediately that this community was ready for what we were offering.

The Recreation Supervisor wrote to us afterward saying that our programs provided children with a great opportunity to learn to express themselves, be creative, and feel safe and confident. She mentioned that our instructors had a great rapport with the children and she looked forward to continuing the partnership.

What Performing Arts Gives Children That Most Activities Don’t

Suffield families invest seriously in their children’s development. But there’s something performing arts provides that sits in a category of its own.

It’s the only activity that simultaneously develops confidence, communication, emotional intelligence, discipline, resilience, and the ability to work as part of an ensemble. All at once. All through something the child genuinely loves doing.

For children who are creatively wired, who feel things deeply and want to express themselves, it’s not just beneficial. It’s essential.

One Step Is Always Enough to Start

You don’t need to know exactly where your child’s performing arts journey leads. You just need a child who is curious and a willingness to give it one try. In my experience that one try has a way of becoming something much more significant than anyone expected.
